Magnetic Stirring Water Bath

Product Overview

The KingPo KP-MSWB Series Magnetic Stirring Water Bath combines a stainless steel water bath, an electrical heating system and multiple magnetic stirring positions in one laboratory instrument.

The water-bath heating system provides a controlled thermal environment for sample containers, while the magnetic drive rotates the stir bars inside the containers to promote liquid circulation and mixing. This integrated arrangement allows samples to be heated and stirred simultaneously without requiring separate heating and stirring equipment.

Each stirring position can be operated independently, allowing laboratories to process multiple samples at the same time. The series is available in four configurations to accommodate different sample quantities and laboratory workflows.

The equipment incorporates an immersion-type ring heating structure, a built-in temperature probe and an LED digital display. The stainless steel bath provides corrosion resistance for routine laboratory applications, while the PTFE-based magnetic stir bars are designed for elevated-temperature and chemically demanding environments.

Key Features

Integrated Water Bath Heating and Magnetic Stirring

Combines two laboratory functions in one instrument. The water bath provides controlled sample heating, while the magnetic stirring mechanism supports continuous liquid mixing during thermal processing.

Independent Multi-Position Stirring

Each stirring position has independent speed control, allowing different samples to be stirred simultaneously with individual speed settings.

Flexible Multi-Position Configurations

Available in 1-, 2-, 4- and 6-position configurations to accommodate different sample quantities and laboratory throughput requirements.

Digital Temperature Control

The built-in temperature probe and LED digital display support temperature adjustment and monitoring, with specified control accuracy of ±0.1°C.

Immersion-Type Ring Heating System

The immersion-type heating structure is designed to provide uniform heat distribution throughout the water bath.

Stainless Steel Construction and PTFE Stir Bars

The stainless steel water bath provides corrosion resistance, while PTFE-coated magnetic stir bars support suitable laboratory heating and mixing applications.

Operating Principle

The KP-MSWB Magnetic Stirring Water Bath combines thermal energy transfer and magnetic coupling to heat and mix liquid samples.

STEP 01

Water Bath Heating

The electrical heating element heats the water inside the stainless steel bath. Heat is transferred through the surrounding water to the sample containers.

STEP 02

Magnetic Stirring

The magnetic drive rotates the stir bar inside each sample container, promoting liquid circulation and mixing.

STEP 03

Independent Processing

Each stirring position can operate independently, allowing multiple samples to be heated and stirred simultaneously.

Sample Vessel Compatibility

The KP-MSWB series uses a stainless steel water bath with a specified diameter of 200 mm and height of 120 mm. The heating ring has an inner diameter of 130 mm.

Sample containers should have an external diameter below 130 mm and be suitable for the required operating temperature and sample volume.

When selecting the sample vessel and magnetic stir bar, consider:

  • Container diameter and available heating space.
  • Liquid volume in each stirring position.
  • Sample viscosity and mixing characteristics.
  • Required operating temperature.
  • Chemical compatibility of the vessel and stir bar.

The four- and six-position configurations include a water-bath drain outlet, while the one- and two-position configurations do not.

FAQ

Can different stirring positions operate at different speeds?
Yes. Each stirring position in the KingPo KP-MSWB Series has independent speed control, allowing different liquid samples to be stirred simultaneously at individual rotational speeds. This is useful for laboratories processing multiple samples with different mixing requirements.
Can each stirring position have a different temperature setting?
Independent stirring control does not necessarily mean independent temperature control. The KP-MSWB specifications confirm individual stirring-speed adjustment but do not specify separately regulated temperatures for each position. Laboratories requiring different temperature setpoints should confirm the heating configuration before ordering.
Does the 1,000 mL stirring capacity apply to each sample vessel?
Yes. The specified maximum stirring volume is 1,000 mL per position, not the combined capacity of the water bath. Actual stirring performance also depends on liquid viscosity, vessel geometry and magnetic stir bar selection. These conditions should be considered when working near the rated volume.
Does ±0.1°C temperature control accuracy mean the sample liquid has the same accuracy?
No. The ±0.1°C specification refers to the temperature control performance, not a guaranteed temperature accuracy throughout every sample vessel. Actual sample temperature can be affected by container material, liquid volume, immersion depth and heat transfer. For temperature-critical procedures, measure the sample temperature independently.
What should be checked when selecting beakers or sample vessels?
The sample vessel should have an external diameter below 130 mm and be suitable for the required temperature and liquid volume. The vessel must also fit securely within the available heating area. For magnetic stirring, the vessel bottom, stir bar dimensions and sample properties affect mixing stability.
Should I choose a KP-MSWB A or AB model for low-speed stirring?
The A models have a specified speed range of 0–2400 rpm, while AB models are specified at approximately 200–2400 rpm. If your procedure requires low rotational speeds, select the variant according to the required speed range and confirm stable operation under your actual sample conditions.
Why might the magnetic stir bar lose synchronization during mixing?
A magnetic stir bar may lose synchronization if the rotational speed is too high for the liquid viscosity, vessel geometry or magnetic coupling conditions. Start at a lower speed and increase gradually, keeping the vessel correctly positioned and using a suitable stir bar. Stable stirring should be verified for the actual sample.
Can the KP-MSWB magnetic stirring water bath process viscous liquids?
Suitability for viscous liquids depends on the sample viscosity, stirring volume and magnetic coupling conditions. The specified 1,000 mL capacity does not establish a maximum viscosity rating. Laboratories working with high-viscosity media should assess whether magnetic stirring can provide the required mixing performance.
Can the water bath be filled with oil instead of water?
The KP-MSWB Series is specified as a water-bath heating system. Compatibility with oil or other heat-transfer liquids has not been established for the listed configurations. Use the specified bath medium unless an alternative has been explicitly approved for the equipment.
What should laboratories confirm when ordering for a different electrical supply?
The specified electrical supply for the KP-MSWB Series is 220 V AC, 50 Hz. For laboratories operating at other voltages or frequencies, the required supply conditions should be identified before ordering. Compatibility with alternative electrical supplies should not be assumed without confirmation of the selected configuration.
