It evaluates the mechanical endurance of swivel connections and power cords on appliances such as curling irons, hair straighteners, hair dryers and similar skin/hair care products in accordance with IEC 60335-2-23 Clause 11.101.
Testing Principle
The appliance is mounted with its major axis horizontal while the supply cord hangs vertically. The appliance rotates about its major axis at a rate of approximately 50 rev/min (adjustable 0โ100 RPM), with the direction of rotation reversed every 20 revolutions. The test is carried out for 1500 revolutions or the preset number of cycles while a 1 N weight applies constant tension, verifying the swivel connectionโs ability to withstand repeated mechanical stress without damage.
